Choosing a dentist for your child is a big decision. You want someone who knows teeth, of course, but also someone who knows kids, and who will care for yours the way you would. So meet Dr. Vy Tran: mom, lifelong traveler, and the person who'll be sitting right next to your little one in the chair at Brave Kids Dental Co.

Over 20 years combined in medicine and dentistry

Dr. Vy's path started in hospitals. She became a respiratory therapist at 19 and worked in the ER, NICU, PICU, CCU and surgery, caring for some of the smallest and most vulnerable patients there are. Those years taught her how to stay calm when a child is scared, and how much a parent needs to feel heard.

She went on to earn a bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology and audiology, then her DMD and a master's in Oral Biology at the University of Toledo. She trained at the University of Utah and then specialized in pediatric dentistry.

Extra training for children with special needs

Dr. Vy completed a fellowship at the Rose F. Kennedy Center in the Bronx, NY, where she gained additional training in caring for patients with special needs. She brings that experience to every family, adapting care to each child's comfort, communication and sensory needs.

A mom who gets it

Dr. Vy is a mom herself, so she knows the worry from the parent's side of the chair. Along the way she's called six countries home, joined volunteer mission trips to Vietnam, and she still can't walk past a good children's book.
