Gentle dental care for babies and toddlers in Sandy, UT, so tiny teeth get a healthy start and you feel confident at home.

Those first tiny teeth bring so much joy, and often a lot of questions: when to see a dentist, whether it's teething, how to brush. At Brave Kids Dental Co., our infant dentistry in Sandy, UT is here to guide you through every step, so your baby gets a healthy start and you feel supported.
We know the early months can be a lot. Our goal is to make your baby's first dental visits simple, gentle and encouraging, and to give you easy tools you can use at home.
Infant dentistry is dental care for babies and toddlers, starting as soon as the first tooth appears. It focuses on prevention, early guidance for parents and getting little ones comfortable with the dentist long before they could ever feel nervous about it.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a first dental visit by age 1, or within 6 months of the first tooth coming in. Starting early sets the foundation for a dental home your child will grow up with.
Teething can be hard on little ones and on tired parents. Common signs include:
Gently massaging your baby's gums with a clean finger can help soothe them. A high fever (100.4°F or higher), diarrhea or vomiting are not caused by teething, so please call your pediatrician if you see them.
Wondering about a lip-tie or tongue-tie? Dr. Vy can evaluate your baby's lip and tongue during a visit and talk with you about what she sees and what it means for feeding, speech and oral health. If anything needs attention, we'll walk you through the next steps together.
Baby teeth help your child chew, speak clearly and smile with confidence, and they hold space for the adult teeth growing underneath. Keeping them healthy now means fewer problems later. As your child grows, regular exams, cleanings and fluoride help keep their smile strong.
Every new patient at Brave Kids receives a teething gift bag with a onesie, a soft silicone toy and an ultra-soft washcloth. It's our way of saying welcome, and of letting you know we've got you.
Start wiping your baby's gums with a soft, damp cloth even before the first tooth, and switch to a tiny, soft toothbrush once teeth appear. Try to make it a cozy part of your routine, like bath time or bedtime stories. Ready for the next step? Here's what happens at a child's first dental visit.
We built Brave Kids so even the tiniest patients feel safe, and so new parents feel heard. From the very first visit, we treat your baby the way we'd want our own children treated.
Dr. Vy Tran has spent over 20 years combined in medicine and dentistry. She started as a respiratory therapist at 19, caring for children in the ER, NICU, PICU and surgery, then earned her DMD and a master's in Oral Biology at the University of Toledo, trained at the University of Utah and specialized in pediatric dentistry.
She also completed a fellowship at the Rose F. Kennedy Center in the Bronx, NY, with additional training in caring for children with special needs. As a former NICU respiratory therapist and a mom, she knows how to stay gentle and calm with even the youngest patients.
She's a mom herself, so she knows the worry from the parent's side of the chair, and she built Brave Kids around one goal: making the dentist the easiest part of your kid's day.

By age 1, or within 6 months of the first tooth coming in, as the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends. It's never too early to start caring for your little one's smile, and an early visit is mostly about giving you confidence and tools for home. Here's what happens at a first visit.
It's short, gentle and relaxed. Your baby usually sits on your lap while Dr. Vy takes a careful look at their gums, teeth and mouth, and explains everything she sees. Then we talk through teething, brushing, feeding and habits, and make a simple plan for ongoing care.
Baby teeth help your child chew, speak clearly and smile with confidence, and they hold space for the adult teeth coming in behind them. Healthy habits that start early also tend to last for life. Catching small concerns early means simpler care later.
Common signs include swollen gums, extra drooling, chewing and biting, fussiness or crying, and changes in sleep or feeding. Gently massaging your baby's gums with a clean finger can help soothe them. We're always happy to share more ideas at your visit.
A high fever is not caused by teething. If your baby has a temperature of 100.4°F or higher, diarrhea or vomiting, please call your pediatrician. Those symptoms point to something other than new teeth.
