Comfortable space maintainers for kids in Sandy, UT that hold room for adult teeth after a baby tooth is lost too early.

When a baby tooth is lost too early, it can feel like a small thing. But that little gap matters, because it's the spot the adult tooth is waiting to fill. At Brave Kids Dental Co., we use space maintainers for kids in Sandy, UT to hold that space open, so your child's smile can grow in the way it should.
A space maintainer is a small, custom appliance that keeps the space left by a missing baby tooth open. When your child loses a baby tooth early, a space maintainer helps keep that space so the adult tooth can come in.
Baby teeth act as natural placeholders for adult teeth. If one is lost early, the neighboring teeth can drift into the gap and block the adult tooth. Our ultimate goal is to prevent that space loss. If space is lost and can't be regained, braces may be needed in the future.
Not every early tooth loss needs a space maintainer. Dr. Vy will look at your child's age, which tooth is missing and how the adult teeth are developing, and explain whether one is right for your child.
Our ceiling TVs, noise-reducing headphones and weighted lap pads help kids stay relaxed throughout.
Space maintainers are often part of a plan after a tooth extraction. Whenever possible, we try to save baby teeth with fillings, crowns or a pulpotomy first.
Kids often play with a new appliance using their tongue. Remind them gently, and bring the space maintainer to every checkup so we can make sure it's still working well as your child grows.
At Brave Kids, we think about your child's smile today and years from now. A space maintainer is a small step that helps protect how their adult teeth come in.
Dr. Vy Tran has spent over 20 years combined in medicine and dentistry. She started as a respiratory therapist at 19, caring for children in the ER, NICU, PICU and surgery, then earned her DMD and a master's in Oral Biology at the University of Toledo, trained at the University of Utah and specialized in pediatric dentistry.
She also completed a fellowship at the Rose F. Kennedy Center in the Bronx, NY, with additional training in caring for children with special needs. She'll explain why holding the space matters now and how it helps your child's adult smile later.
She's a mom herself, so she knows the worry from the parent's side of the chair, and she built Brave Kids around one goal: making the dentist the easiest part of your kid's day.

A space maintainer is a small appliance that holds open the space left by a baby tooth that came out early. It keeps neighboring teeth from drifting, so the adult tooth has room to come in.
If a baby tooth is lost early to decay, injury or an extraction, nearby teeth can shift into the gap. A space maintainer helps prevent crowding and keeps things on track.
Teeth can drift and block the adult tooth, and braces may be needed in the future to fix the spacing. Our goal is to prevent space loss whenever we can.
