Safe, gentle laughing gas for kids in Sandy, UT that helps nervous little ones relax while staying awake and comfortable.

Some kids just need a little extra help to relax at the dentist, and that's completely okay. Laughing gas is one of the gentlest ways to give it. At Brave Kids Dental Co., we offer laughing gas for kids in Sandy, UT to help children feel calm and comfortable while staying awake and able to talk with us.
Laughing gas, or nitrous oxide, is a safe, mild form of sedation that helps your child feel relaxed while staying awake and responsive during treatment. Many kids describe it as feeling light, floaty or a little giggly.
Yes. Laughing gas is one of the mildest and most commonly used forms of sedation for children, and our team monitors your child the whole time. It's given in a carefully controlled amount, and its effects fade quickly once the mask comes off.
Because laughing gas wears off within minutes, your child can go back to their normal activities after the appointment with no lingering effects. Many kids head right back to school or play.
We often combine laughing gas with our sensory-friendly comfort tools: TVs on the ceiling, noise-reducing headphones and weighted lap pads. Our Montessori-inspired approach means we still introduce each tool and explain what's coming, so your child feels in control.
Laughing gas works for many children, but not every child or every treatment. For moderate to severe anxiety, sensory sensitivities or more extensive treatment, we also offer IV sedation and general anesthesia. Learn more about all our sedation options.
A light meal a couple of hours before the visit usually works best, since a very full or completely empty stomach can make some kids feel queasy. We'll give you exact instructions when you book. You can also let your child know they get to pick a fun scent for their mask.
At Brave Kids, we want every child to feel calm and brave, not forced. Laughing gas is a gentle tool that helps many kids relax so their visit feels easy.
Dr. Vy Tran has spent over 20 years combined in medicine and dentistry. She started as a respiratory therapist at 19, caring for children in the ER, NICU, PICU and surgery, then earned her DMD and a master's in Oral Biology at the University of Toledo, trained at the University of Utah and specialized in pediatric dentistry.
She also completed a fellowship at the Rose F. Kennedy Center in the Bronx, NY, with additional training in caring for children with special needs. She'll talk with you about whether laughing gas is a good fit for your child, or whether comfort tools alone might be enough.
She's a mom herself, so she knows the worry from the parent's side of the chair, and she built Brave Kids around one goal: making the dentist the easiest part of your kid's day.
